| Tournaments - Frequently Asked Questions FAQsWhen will I know if I have been accepted into the tournament? The accepted field list will be available online the Wednesday following the deadline of each event. Go to www.pgajuniorseries.com after 5:00 pm EDT to view the list, and to download the tournament, contestant, and travel information for that event. EVERY APPLICANT WILL ALSO BE NOTIFIED BY EMAIL OF THEIR STATUS. What is the Cancellation Policy?Cancellations before the original entry deadline on schedule will not be charged. There will be no refunds after the original event entry deadline. Please email your cancellation to jprink@pgahq.com.. Be sure to specify the players name and registration you wish to cancel. Are Release Forms required?Release forms are required for a complete application. They can be found here. Please fax to 407.233.1233. We receive a constant stream of faxes, so if the number is busy, please try again. You only need to submit one for the season. If you are registering for additional evens, and have already submitted a release form you do not need to do so again. Juniors who have NOT submitted their release form will be notified via email one week prior to the event. By playing in the PGA Junior Series, how do I actually benefit by playing? This is the 15th year of operations for the PGA Junior Series and it’s coast-to-coast tour of events. First and foremost, you are treated as a young professional with starting and scoring tents, “contestant only” roped off areas for starting, scoring and practicing. All scores are sent to every college coach in the United States offering scholarships which provides exposure for boys and girls who participate in this PGA program. It is without question the most “cost effective” tour of national events. How is the field chosen? Each 156 player field is made up of boys and girls in 13-15 and 16-18 age divisions. Approximately one half of the field is selected from the host section and the other half is selected from players outside the host section. Player acceptance into each event is merit based. The best field is selected using competition experience and personal information which you supply on the official on-line entry application. You will need to have some tournament experience to be eligible for the Boy divisions. We look at experience from 2009 and look for participation in events such as the USGA Junior Amateur Qualifiers, Junior PGA Championship Section Qualifiers, PGA Junior Series, State Junior Championships, High School Championships and your local Junior Tour. Once the application is submitted; can I go ahead and make reservations? No. It is NOT advisable to make travel arrangements until you receive confirmation that you have been accepted into the tournament. Why is the closing date so far in advance of the tournament? The closing date has been chosen to allow a maximum amount of time for players to make airline and travel arrangements in the most cost effective time frame. Is there an alternate list?Yes, a certain number of players will be listed on an alternate list in their order of acceptance. As cancellations occur, players will be notified of the order of the alternate list in their respective age divisions. |
