| The Junior Ryder Cup will be contested at Gleneagles Resort, PGA Centenary Course in Perthshire, Scotland. There will be a coinciding Friendship Match thereafter at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales, site of the 2010 Ryder Cup.
The United States team will feature six boys and six girls who are American citizens and are members of the high school graduating class of 2011, or younger.
Exemptions
1) 2009 - 34th Junior PGA Boy/Girl Champion contested at TPC River's Bend in Maineville (Greater Cincinnati), Ohio on July 28-31, 2009. Alexis Thompson from Coral Springs, Fla. has earned the first spot.
2) 2010 – U.S. Junior Amateur Champion, to be contested July 19-24, 2010 at Egypt Valley Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich. If the champion is not eligible, this becomes a captain's pick.
3) 2010 – U.S. Girls Junior Champion, to be contested July 19-24, 2010 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C. If the champion is not eligible, this becomes a captain's pick.
4) 2010 - Junior PGA Championship Boy/Girl Champion and runner-up (2 boys/2 girls) to be contested August 2-5, 2010 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.. If the champion or runner-up is not eligible, this becomes a captain's pick.
5) Top Boy/Girl from the Junior Ryder Cup points list which will start at 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur. This will include the AJGA fall and next summer's 2010 "Invitationals" all PGA Junior Series events, USGA Junior Section and National Championships, PGA Junior Section and National Championships and select independent events like the Orange Bowl International Junior, Verizon Junior Heritage, Kathy Whitworth Girls Invitational and Scott Robertson Memorial. In addition, points are awarded to those juniors who make the cut in a 2009/2010 PGA Tour, LPGA major or USGA national event.
Captain's Pick
6) The final spot will be two Boys and Girls captain's picks for which The PGA of America will consider all three national ranking systems with Polo, Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard to pinpoint the remaining boy/girl selections. The captain will also take into consideration the PGA Junior Series Player of the Year honors for any picks.
Team Announcement
The complete USA team will be announced at the 35th Junior PGA Championship after the final round of play on August 5, 2010. The team will depart for the Junior Ryder Cup in Scotland on September 22 and then on to Celtic Manor Resort in Wales for the Friendship Match to be played in conjunction with the 38th Ryder Cup.
