One of junior golf's major championships, the Junior PGA Championship is where the best in the world get their start. The Championship celebrates its 41st anniversary in August 2016. Begun in 1976, at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., the Championship has been a popular stop on the national junior circuit for many of today's PGA and LPGA touring professionals.
Past Junior PGA Championship competitors who have gone on to successful professional careers include: Billy Andrade, Stewart Cink, Chris Couch, Trevor Immelman, Cristie Kerr, Justin Leonard, Phil Mickelson, D.A. Points, Pat Perez, Sean O'Hair, Grace Park, In-Bee Park, Lexi Thompson, Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods.
David Toms, 1984 Champion, won the 2001 PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club. Sean O'Hair, 1998 Champion, was the 2005 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. Trevor Immelman, 1996 Champion, was the 2006 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and in 2008 won the Masters.
The 2015 boys' division champion received an invitation to the PGA Tour's 2016 Valero Texas Open and the 2015 girls' division champion received an invitation to the LPGA's 2016 Shoprite Classic.
JUNIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD SELECTION:
Individuals must qualify to earn a spot in the Junior PGA Championship, held on August 9-12, 2016 at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, Rhode Island. There are two ways to qualify for this event:
1. Each PGA Junior Series tournament is a qualifying event. The Boys 15-18 champion and Girls Overall champion of each of the 9 Junior Series events will earn a position in the Junior PGA Championship field.

2. Each of our 41 PGA Sections hosts a Section PGA Junior Championship which is also a qualifying event. The Boys 15-18 division champion and Girls Overall champion will earn a spot into the 41st Junior PGA Championship. (NOTE: You can only qualify through the section which you reside).
