If you plan to participate in a event conducted by the PGA Junior Series, it is important that you read the following information. It is your responsibility to know the rules and regulations concerning participation in PGA Junior Series events. Tournament policies of the PGA Junior Series are summarized herein to answer questions that may arise.
CONDITIONS OF PLAY:
A player's entry may be withdrawn from the competition at any time (including during the competition) at the discretion of the PGA of America for false statement of age, handicap index, unbecoming conduct and refusal to comply with dress code. A violation will be considered a serious breach of etiquette and result in disqualification under Rule 33-7.
ELIGIBILITY:
Each series event is open to boys and girls who are at least 13 years of age and up to 18 years of age on the final day of any event they enter.
Note: 18 year old players must not have started college.
The four age-group divisions consist of Boys/Girls: 13-15 and 16-18. Competitors may apply for as many events as they wish. The PGA of America also encourages all junior golfers to compete in your local PGA junior golf section events.
ENTRY FEE:
The entry fee is $200 for 36-hole tournaments and $235 for 54-hole tournaments. The entry fee will be charged once the player is accepted to the event. If you apply and are not accepted, you will not be charged.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
All entries must be submitted online. Entries must be received by 9:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) on the entry closing date, which is roughly four weeks prior to each respective event. You can register at the "Members Login" tab. The accepted field for each event will be posted online at www.pgajuniorseries.com the Wednesday after the deadline.
Applications are not complete without a completed Release form.
Release forms should be notarized and faxed to the number to 407-233-1233. Juniors only need to send in one release form for the 2010 Junior Series. Participants will be notified via email if their release form has not been received one week prior to the event.
NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL /NO CARDS /NO SHOWS:
Boys/Girls who have applied to participate in a PGA Junior Series Event and find it necessary to withdraw from a tournament for any reason MUST email the Junior Golf Coordinator at jprink@pgahq.com prior to the start of the event.
If the participant fails to return a scorecard, withdraws during play without notifying an official and personally surrendering their scorecard to that official or fails to appear for their assigned time without notifying the PGA of America within 48 hours of the event, the participant will not be allowed to enter another event for the balance of the Series.
After being accepted into an event, all event cancellations MUST be emailed to jprink@pgahq.com
REFUND POLICY:
Entry fees will be not be charged regardless of reason if the PGA Junior Series is notified prior to the close of entries. After the close of entries, the entry fee will be refunded only in the event of illness, injury or a death in your immediate family, if requested in writing by the start of the event. For a refund to be considered because of illness or injury your letter must be accompanied by a doctor's note. Refunds will be sent after the completion of the event. All refunds will be returned less a $25 administration fee. (Immediate family will include parents, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles). All Boys/Girls who do not get into an event because the field is oversubscribed will not be charged.
AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION/CADDIES:
PGA Junior Series Events are “walking only” competitions. Players shall walk at all times during a stipulated round. Caddies are not permitted during the competition. Participants must carry their own clubs or pull trolleys.
CLOSE OF THE COMPETITION:
The Competition is deemed to be closed when the trophy has been presented to the winner.
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES:
The use of electronic distance-measuring devices is PROHIBITED in a PGA Junior Series Event. The penalty for use of an electronic distance-measuring device, during a Stipulated Round is DISQUALIFICATION.
FOOTWEAR:
Footwear with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round. Penalty for breach of this condition:
DISQUALIFICATION.
GOLF BALLS:
Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Balls may be used. The List is available upon request. Penalty for use of brand not on the List: DISQUALIFICATION.
GOLF CLUBS:
Golf clubs on the latest list of USGA Non-Conforming Driving Clubs will be prohibited. A copy of the USGA Non-Conforming Driving Clubs list will be available at the starter's table prior to each round. The penalty for use of a non-conforming golf club, or for having one in your golf bag, is DISQUALIFICATION.
WEATHER PRECAUTION:
If a PGA Junior Series Event course is declared unplayable and as a result it is not possible to complete play in the period in which the Tournament is scheduled, the Tournament shall not be extended beyond the last scheduled day and the winner shall be the individual which returns the lowest score for the
number of stipulated rounds played.
CONTESTANT INFORMATION:
The PGA of America will provide an information packet online after the entry closing date. It will consist of event specific materials including: fact sheet, directions to the course, a list of hotels and rates, practice round information, groupings/starting times and a player contact information sheet. The contestant packet will be available after the deadline, and by the time the accepted field is posted. It is the player's responsibility to download this information.
Every player should submit a On-line Player Bio with their application. Player Biographies can be uploaded at www.pgajuniorseries.com, and edited at any time. Players only need to submit a profile once. These bios are intended to promote you to college coaches.
REGISTRATION, TEE GIFTS AND PRIZES:
Each participant will receive a gift packet when they register on-site. If a player does not attend registration without prior arrangements, the player may not receive his or her tournament gifts.
Plaques will be awarded to the top three places in each age division. Ties for first place only, in each age division will be determined by a hole by hole play off. At the conclusion of the Series, the top boy and the top girl point leader in all age divisions will be awarded PGA Junior Series Player-of-the-Year trophies and status.
POINT SYSTEM FOR DIVISION PLAYER OF THE YEAR:
Each Series event will award points to the leading 13-15 and 16-18 age group finishers in both Boys' and Girls' Divisions. Points are compiled by the PGA of America throughout the Series. Point distribution for each Series event will be 1st place -375 points, through 10th place-20 points.
