Two Day Battle Set For PGA Junior
Series Event At ArborLinks
Nebraska City, NE – The 2010 PGA Junior Series is delighted to be back
in Nebraska City, Neb. this week at ArborLinks
for the second straight year. The two
day tournament kicks off on Monday June 14th with a field of 111
players from twelve different states.
After
hosting its first PGA Junior Series event last year, ArborLinks
received excited reviews from both players and spectators. Similar to last year, players are coming back
to a golf course in pristine condition that rewards great shots and penalizes
misses.
“We
are excited to have the juniors back at ArborLinks,”
said Jeff Porter, General Manager. “We
appreciate the opportunity to expose ArborLinks and
based off last year’s successful tournament, the golf course will play very
challenging for the players.”
This
week’s field is highlighted by the 2009 Girls’ 16-18 PGA Junior Series player
of the year, Shelby Phillips. The Arizona native is
playing in her first PGA Junior Series of the summer and has high expectations
going into this week.

Zech of Kearney, Mo., is playing in his third consecutive PGA
Junior Series of the summer. He is the
clear favorite in the Boys’ 16-18 Division after winning the first PGA Junior
Series event in Memphis, Tenn.,
two weeks ago and finishing fifth last week in Lexington, Ky.
The field is broken down into four
divisions, two girls and two boys, with ages ranging from 13-18. The
boy’s 16-18 and overall girl winner will each earn a spot in 35th
Junior PGA Championship held later this summer at Sycamore Hills Golf Club Aug
2-5 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
as well as a spot in the Junior World Championship held in San Diego, Calif.
in July.
This summer will also feature points
awarded to the top-10 finishers who are American citizens at the nine PGA
Junior Series events. These points help players to qualify for the 7th
Junior Ryder Cup held in late September in Gleneagles, Scotland.
The U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team will be comprised of six boys and six
girls who are American citizens and members of the high school graduating
class of 2011, or younger.
