Buege Captures Final PGA Junior Series Title

- With a perfect summer day, the 2010 PGA Junior Series came to a close today
at Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison, Wis. The field of over 90 juniors from 15
different states competed in a 54-hole stroke play competition. McCabe Buege of Rogers, Minn.,
lead wire-to-wire to win the Boys’ 16-18 Division. He
is the first player this summer on the PGA Junior Series to have all three
rounds in the sixties.
He shot a 3-under-par 68 in the final round for a three day
total of 9-under-par 204. With his win
this week, Buege earned himself a spot at the 35th
Junior PGA Championship later this summer in Fort Wayne, Ind.,
at Sycamore Hills Country Club.
Buege played this week with a
mission and clearly showed the field he came to win from the first hole all the
way to the final putt. Jordan Niebrugge of Mequon,
Wis., came in second place with a
three day total of 6-under-par 207 and just could not get enough birdie putts
to fall to really give Buege a run on the back
nine.
Charlie Danielson of Osceola,
Wis., came in third place with a
three day total of 1-under-par 212. This
is his second top-3 of the summer with the PGA Junior Series.
Allyssa Farrell of Edgerton Wis., took
home the Girls’ 16-18 Division. She lead the entire time out at Yahara Hills and played consistent all three rounds. She
shot a 1-under-par 70 in the final round for a three round total of 1-under-par
212.
She cruised to victory by seven strokes over Susan Kirschenman of Huxley,
Iowa who had a three round total
of 219. Shelby Martinek
of Tempe, Ariz.,
came in third place with a three round total of 221.
Casey Danielson of Osceola,
Wis., won the Girls’ 13-15
Division after shooting a 1-under-par 70 for a three round total of 218. This is her second victory of the summer with
the PGA Junior Series.
Emily Joers of Waukesha,
Wis., came in second place with Harley Dubsky of Valparaiso,
Ind., came in third place.
The story was very similar in the final round for the Boys’
13-15 Division. The winner, Josh Smith
of Hazel Green, Wis.,
came from behind to win by four strokes.
He shot an impressive 4-under-par 67 for a three day total of 5-over-par
218.
Smith improved each round and made his presences known in
the final round when he got off to a fast start. He birdied four out of his first six holes
and never looked back. It is his first
PGA Junior Series victory.
Christian Seaton of Mt.
Carmel, Ill., who was
leading going into the final round, finished in second place with a three day
total of 9-over-par 222. Collin Hammer
of Sioux Falls, S.D., rounded out the top three with a three
day total of 228.
The PGA Junior Series closes its books for the 2010
season. It was a summer highlighted by
great junior golfers and well rounded golf courses. The PGA Junior Series looks forward to the
years to come and the juniors that play the PGA Junior Series.

Junior PGA Championship in Fort Wayne,
Ind., at Sycamore Hills Country Club
Aug. 2-5 to conclude the summer.
