Nakatani Pulls Even in Girls’ Division; Shore Goes Low to Take Lead in Boys’ Division

Blythewood, S.C., --   The second round of the PGA Junior Series event at Columbia Country Club produced some very impressive scores. The day included four rounds under par and a total of 16 at 75 or better.

Davis Shore, of Knoxville, Tenn., took the lead in the 15-18 Boys’ Division after a second-round three-under par 69. The round was highlighted by three birdies in his first four holes.

“After I got out to that solid start I had to grind out the rest of the round,” said Shore. “I made a couple of bogeys and then dug deep and got those back later. I’m looking forward to the final round tomorrow, because there are a lot of good names on the leaderboard.”

Jennings Milholen of Pittsboro, N.C., is second, a stroke back of Shore.

Rei Nakatani of Japan shot 72 to pull even with Maddy McDanel of Pittsburgh, Pa., at one-over par 145 in the Girls’ Division.

“I am happy with the way I played,” said Nakatani. “But I can’t be satisfied until I close strong tomorrow.”

Kayley Marschke of Suwanee, Ga., and Sarah Harrison, of Martinez, Ga., are tied for third, two shots back at three-over par 147.

Boys’ 12-14 Division leader Walker Jones, of Sumter, S.C., posted a round of 76 and leads Mauro Stanchieri of Venezuela heading into the final round tomorrow.
